La Casetta del Palmento

The house is located on the ground floor of the building to the west, rebuilt in 2007 and refurbished again in 2017. Previously it was a storehouse for capers, and demijohns for the grape must produced by the first pressing onto the stone by the bare feet of the peasants, with a great stone tank, from which the precious juice drains through a hole in the front. And it is this pressing floor, the palmento, fully restored as evidence of former times, which is the central feature giving this house its name, providing an ideal setting, with its spacious layout for a family of 4-5 people or two couples.

From the parking area, a short slope and a stone path through the garden lead to the Casetta. The main access is from the terrace, in Aeolian style with its ‘bisuoli’ (wall seating), ‘pulere’ (columns), and thatched roof, table, chairs and sunbeds, from where to enjoy the beautiful, panoramic view to the east of the islands of Panarea and Stromboli.The main entrance leads to the convenient kitchen, with typical Sicilian tiling. To the right is a large bedroom with double bed, and bathroom, and on the left a corridor, with the old pavement on the right and access to the terrace on the left, then the second bathroom, and at the end the door to the second bedroom with double bed.

The Casetta and terrace are paved with precious Sicilian terracotta, treated to protect it, with a natural surface. The Casetta is surrounded by the garden with areas for sunbeds and for reading, outdoor showers, the laundry area and other services. Close to the Casetta are bars, restaurants, a supermarket, petrol station, pharmacy, health centre, car and scooter hire, boat hire, cash machine, post office.
